FAQ

What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?

Myofascial Release is a gentle yet powerful hands-on bodywork technique that focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, and organs.

Over time, stress, injury, repetitive movements, poor posture, and emotional tension can cause the fascia to tighten and lose its natural flexibility. This can lead to chronic pain, stiffness, and limited mobility.

Through sustained pressure and intentional techniques, Myofascial Release helps restore balance, improve movement, and support your body’s natural healing process.

Is Myofascial Release only for pain?

Not at all!

Many people come in to:

• Improve athletic performance
• Increase flexibility and mobility
• Manage stress
• Support overall wellness

It’s both therapeutic and preventative.

How is Myofascial Release different from massage therapy?

While traditional massage primarily works on muscles using oils and flowing strokes, Myofascial Release:

• Targets the connective tissue system (fascia)

• Uses slow, sustained pressure instead of fast movements

• Addresses root causes rather than just symptoms

• Focuses on long-term relief and alignment

Many clients who haven’t found lasting relief with massage discover deeper, more lasting results with MFR.

Who is Myofascial Release ideal for?

Myofascial Release is ideal for people experiencing:

• Chronic pain or tension
• Neck, shoulder, back, or hip discomfort
• Postural imbalances
• Sports injuries or repetitive strain
• Limited range of motion
• Stress-related tightness
• Headaches or jaw tension (TMJ)
• Recovery support (with medical clearance)

It’s suitable and recommended for athletes, desk workers, active individuals, and anyone wanting to move and feel better in their body.

What are the benefits of Myofascial Release?

Clients often experience:

• Relief from chronic pain
• Improved flexibility and mobility
• Better posture and alignment
• Reduced stress and tension
• Increased circulation
• Faster recovery from injuries
• Greater body awareness and connection

Clients leave sessions feeling lighter, more open, and more at ease in their body.

Can Myofascial Release improve posture?

Absolutely.

Fascial restrictions play a major role in postural imbalances. Releasing tension patterns can help:

• Reduce rounded shoulders
• Improve spinal alignment
• Enhance movement efficiency

Many clients see noticeable postural improvements over time.

Does Myofascial Release hurt?

Myofascial Release is generally gentle. You may feel pressure in areas where the fascia is tight, sometimes described as a “good release sensation.”

Your comfort is always respected, and sessions are tailored to your tolerance and needs.

Is Myofascial Release safe?

Yes — when performed by a trained practitioner, it is very safe and gentle.

Please inform me of any medical conditions, recent surgeries, or concerns so your session can be adjusted accordingly.

What happens during my first session?

Your first session includes:

• A brief intake and movement/posture assessment

• Discussion of your pain points and goals

• Customized Myofascial Release treatment

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your body and often noticeable improvements in how you feel and move.

How long are sessions?

Sessions offered are:

• 60 minutes
• 90 minutes (Recommended)
• 120 minutes
• 180 minutes

Longer sessions allow for deeper work and more comprehensive results.

How many sessions will I need?

Every body is unique.

Some clients notice changes after one session, while chronic patterns often benefit from a series of treatments.

During your first visit, we’ll assess your body and discuss a personalized plan to support your goals.

How often should I come in?

This depends on your goals and condition.

Some clients come weekly or bi-weekly for corrective work, while others come monthly for maintenance and wellness.

Together we’ll find what works best for you.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, stretchy clothing is best, such as:

• Yoga pants or athletic shorts
• A fitted or stretchy top

MFR is often performed without oils and may be done over clothing or directly on skin depending on the area.

Do you accept insurance?
