FAQ
Myofascial release, Shockwave and TECAR questions, Valley Village, Los Angeles. Short answers.
What is myofascial release massage?+
Slow, sustained hands-on pressure on the fascia, the connective tissue around your muscles, to ease tightness and help you move more freely.
Do I need an assessment before I book?+
No. You can book any session directly. $99 when you start a package within 7 days (any package through Dec 31; from Jan 1, a Recovery + Technology package). Otherwise the full session price of $360 applies.
Who will I see?+
Angie Wong does your massage. Iyari, a trained team member, may run the OmniWave® Shockwave part of a session with technology. For a Discovery Call you can choose either, or the first available.
What should I wear?+
Comfortable, stretchy clothing. Myofascial release is often done without oils, over clothing or directly on skin depending on the area.
Is there anything I should tell you first?+
Yes. Tell us about anything you'd like us to know when you book or when you arrive, and we will adjust your session to you.
Does it feel intense?+
It is generally gentle. You may feel pressure where you are tight, and your comfort always comes first.
How do I get Shockwave or TECAR?+
Book the 90-minute Recovery + Technology session: $360 with one, $410 with both, built into the same time. Shockwave on its own is 30 minutes for $100.
Can I add Shockwave or TECAR to a hands-on massage?+
Yes, to a 60- or 90-minute massage: $100 for one, $150 for both. You can also add a 30-minute BioCharger® session for $40.
Is there a screening before a device session?+
Yes. Your first Shockwave, TECAR or BioCharger® session starts with a short screening.
How often should I come in?+
Some clients come weekly or every two weeks, others monthly. We will find a rhythm that suits you.
What is your cancellation policy?+
More than 48 hours before: free. 24 to 48 hours before: 50% of the session. Less than 24 hours, or a no-show: 100%. This applies to studio sessions and in-home visits. What is Myofascial Release (MFR)?+
Myofascial Release is a gentle yet powerful hands-on bodywork technique that focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds and supports your muscles, joints, and organs.
Over time, stress, injury, repetitive movements, poor posture, and emotional tension can cause the fascia to tighten and lose its natural flexibility. This can lead to ongoing tension, stiffness, and limited mobility.
Through sustained pressure and intentional techniques, Myofascial Release helps restore balance, improve movement, and support your body’s natural recovery.
Is Myofascial Release only for tension?+
Not at all!
Many people come in to:
• Improve athletic performance
• Increase flexibility and mobility
• Manage stress
• Support overall wellness
It’s both therapeutic and preventative.
How is Myofascial Release different from massage therapy?+
While traditional massage primarily works on muscles using oils and flowing strokes, Myofascial Release:
• Targets the connective tissue system (fascia)
• Uses slow, sustained pressure instead of fast movements
• Addresses root causes rather than just symptoms
• Focuses on long-term relief and alignment
Many clients who haven’t found lasting relief with massage discover deeper, more lasting results with MFR.
Who is Myofascial Release ideal for?+
Myofascial Release is ideal for people experiencing:
• Ongoing tension and tightness
• Neck, shoulder, back, or hip discomfort
• Postural imbalances
• Sports injuries or repetitive strain
• Limited range of motion
• Stress-related tightness
• Headaches or jaw tension (TMJ)
• Recovery support (with medical clearance)
It’s suitable and recommended for athletes, desk workers, active individuals, and anyone wanting to move and feel better in their body.
Is it deep tissue?+
Yes, when you want it.
We combine deep tissue with myofascial release and set the pressure with you, from gentle to firm.
Many clients choose deep work on the back, neck and shoulders.
Can you work on neck and shoulder tension?+
Yes. Neck, shoulders and upper back are the areas our clients ask about most.
We work on them hands-on and show you a few things to repeat at home.
What are the benefits of Myofascial Release?+
Clients often experience:
• Relief from tension and tightness
• Improved flexibility and mobility
• Better posture and alignment
• Reduced stress and tension
• Increased circulation
• Faster recovery from injuries
• Greater body awareness and connection
Clients leave sessions feeling lighter, more open, and more at ease in their body.
Can Myofascial Release improve posture?+
Absolutely.
Fascial restrictions play a major role in postural imbalances. Releasing tension patterns can help:
• Reduce rounded shoulders
• Improve spinal alignment
• Enhance movement efficiency
Many clients see noticeable postural improvements over time.
What does Myofascial Release feel like?+
Myofascial Release is generally gentle. You may feel pressure in areas where the fascia is tight, sometimes described as a “good release sensation.”
Your comfort is always respected, and sessions are tailored to your tolerance and needs.
Is Myofascial Release safe?+
Yes — when performed by a trained practitioner, it is very safe and gentle.
Please tell us about any medical conditions, recent surgeries, or concerns so your session can be adjusted accordingly.
What happens during my first session?+
Your first session includes:
• A brief intake and movement/posture assessment
• Discussion of where you feel tight or tense, and your goals
• Customized Myofascial Release session
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your body and often noticeable improvements in how you feel and move.
How long are sessions?+
Sessions offered are:
• 60 minutes
• 90 minutes (Recommended)
Longer sessions allow for deeper work and more comprehensive results.
How many sessions will I need?+
Every body is unique.
Some clients notice changes after one session, while chronic patterns often benefit from a series of sessions.
During your first visit, we’ll assess your body and discuss a personalized plan to support your goals.
